Snow Volleyball conquers Switzerland

Engelberg, 17. January 2018 – On 18. February will be the first Swiss snow volleyball champion of the history to be chosen at the Trübsee in Engelberg. The teams are fighting not only for the title, but also for a starting place at the first snow-Volleyball European Championships of 23. to 25. March in Wagrain-Kleinarl & Flachau (Austria). The snow volleyball hype has definitely reached Switzerland. After the European Snow Volleyball tour in Engelberg (2014, 2015) and in Disentis (2017) has already stopped in the last three years, now on 18. February 2018 at Trübsee in Engelberg the first snow Volleyball championships of the history take place. This first broadcast is another milestone in the development of this still young sport, which wants to become Olympic in just a few years. Christian Walker, founder of the Swiss Beach volleyball tour (from 2000 Coop Beachtour) and co-founder of the Snow Volleyball Association, sees clear parallels between the snow volleyball hype and the beach volleyball boom of recent decades: "The strong Growth and the professionalisation of the structures that snow volleyball has experienced in recent years are simply incredible. Snow Volleyball is for many people more than just a sport, it is a lifestyle-as it is beach volleyball too. " Dirk Decher, co-founder of the Snow volleyball community and a member of the European Beach and Snow Volleyball Commission, is confident that snow volleyball will continue to grow rapidly-not least thanks to the work of the International and National associations: "The International Volleyball Federation FIVB and the European Association CEV are willing to do everything in their power to make snow volleyball Olympic. The national associations in Europe have also packed the snow volleyball fever. Many of them have established national championships or tours this year. If this continues, volleyball will soon be the first sport to be held in both summer and Winter Games. " Werner Augsburger, managing director of Swiss volley, for the premiere in Engelberg: "We are looking forward to the first official Swiss championships in snow volleyball in Engelberg. We are convinced that the organizers will make an unforgettable event and provide a lot of fun and spectacle. In alpine Switzerland, the conditions for snow volleyball are of course optimal. As a national association, we therefore support the vision of the European and International Association. " And the figures show that the snow volleyball fever is attacking: since the European Volleyball Federation CEV officially recognized the Snow Volleyball tour two years ago, snow volleyball is experiencing a veritable boom. This year, in addition to the Swiss championship, sixteen other national championships will be held throughout Europe for the first time. The national champions are then automatically also for the first snow Volleyball European Championship of 23. to 25. March in the Austrian Wagrain-Kleinarl & Flachau qualified. Co-organiser Dirk Decher is enthusiastic about the interest in the Swiss championship: "We have already received many registrations. This shows that interest in the volleyball and volleyball players in Switzerland is great. " A total of 16 women's and 16 men's teams will be competing for the Swiss Championship title in a double knockout system. The game is played on two winning sets of 11 points each (with two points difference). Since it will be the first Swiss championships in snow volleyball, the date of registration is considered to be the criterion for the betting schedule. Two wildcards per sex are also awarded by the Swiss Volleyball Federation Swiss volley. If too many registrations require qualifying tournaments, the winners of the qualification are listed in the peloton as a wildcard.

Spahr/Zurgilgen will be seventh in Turkey

At the CEV Snow volleyball European Tour Stop in Erciyes (TUR), Remo and Raphael reached the final Rank 7 (ranking).  At the SM both players will be with other partners at the start and we are looking forward to the results. 6. CEV Tournament, changes EM qualifiers

Georgia was today the 6th Tour stop announced. This is great on the one hand but it also has direct changes to the selection for the European Championship. This additional tournament will increase the number of tournaments to 6 and the number of 17 national championships will no longer qualify for the European Championship by winning a CEV tournament. Currently the regulation applies:-All national champions (Max 17)-Host Country (2)-Snow volleyball ranking with all points which this year (from 1.1. 2018). The final decision for approval will be made only after 5. March by the CEV. At this point it will be announced which mode is to be applied. What is certain: the winners of the national championships may be awarded to the EM. More details in the snow volleyball official information of the CEV.
